The Rover 5 Tank Chassis is an advanced tracked robot platform engineered for robotics enthusiasts, students, and DIY developers. Unlike traditional tracked chassis systems, the Rover 5 allows adjustable ground clearance by rotating the gearboxes in 5-degree increments. Its flexible rubber treads automatically maintain tension as the chassis height changes, ensuring stable performance on uneven terrain. The chassis includes two powerful DC motors paired with 86.8:1 gearboxes, delivering strong torque and reliable movement. Each motor is equipped with an optical quadrature encoder capable of generating 1000 state changes per 3 wheel rotations, making it ideal for precise speed and position control. Internally, the chassis features noise suppression coils and a battery holder designed for 6x AA batteries (not included). NiMH batteries are recommended for better performance and higher current output. The platform can also be upgraded to support four motors and encoders, allowing advanced drive configurations such as mecanum wheel setups.
