SIM900 GSM GPRS Shield

The SIM900 GPRS/GSM Shield for Arduino is a versatile wireless communication shield based on the popular SIM900 GSM/GPRS module from SIMCOM. Designed for Arduino and compatible development boards, this shield enables GSM cellular communication including voice calls, SMS messaging, MMS, and GPRS internet connectivity. The shield operates on quad-band GSM frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) , making it compatible with GSM networks worldwide. It communicates with Arduino using UART serial communication and AT commands according to GSM 07.07 and 07.05 standards along with SIMCOM enhanced commands. In addition to GSM communication, the module provides built-in TCP/UDP protocol support , enabling direct internet communication with web servers and cloud applications. It also includes onboard GPIOs, PWM outputs, and ADC functionality for advanced embedded applications. The shield supports both hardware and software serial interfaces, includes microphone and speaker connections for voice applications, and offers low-power operation for battery-powered systems.
