MQ-6 Liquefied Gas CO Sensor Module

The MQ-6 LPG Gas Sensor Module is a reliable and widely used gas detection device based on Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) technology. It is specifically designed to detect LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and butane gas concentrations in the air. The sensing element is made of aluminum-oxide ceramic coated with tin dioxide (SnO?), which changes its resistance when exposed to combustible gases. When LPG or butane gas is present, the resistance of the sensing element decreases. This variation is converted into an electrical signal that can be read either as an analog voltage (0–5V) or as a digital output (HIGH/LOW) through the onboard comparator. The module includes a potentiometer that allows adjustment of the sensitivity level for the digital output. The sensor requires a preheating time of approximately 20 seconds for stable and accurate readings. It operates at a standard 5V supply, making it compatible with most microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP, and other development boards. The stainless-steel mesh provides protection while allowing gas diffusion to the sensing element.
